A Rose by Any Other Name...

Roses are given at many times of the year as well as to honor the love or more sadly, for the memory of a person. While you may know that red roses signify love, desire or longing, you may not know what some of the other rose colors mean. Here’s a primer of sorts to get you started on the meaning of colors for roses.

White is the color of innocence and signify new beginnings. They are a traditional flower, often carried for a wedding by the bride or given in sympathy after the loss of a family member or friend.

Pink roses meaning is for admiration, thankfulness and joy, but its meaning is also dictated by its shade. Light pink signifies sweetness and innocence. Deep pink communicates deep appreciation.

Yellow is a cheerful color. Yellow roses convey joy and are a symbol of friendship. These don’t share a sign of love, but caring platonic feelings.

Orange roses can be given to share feelings of fiery passion and energy. They can also share feelings of intense desire or pride. The orange rose can be given as an alternative to red roses to express passionate love.

Roses don’t only have to be given at Valentine’s Day. They can be given at anytime of the year to convey the message of your heart. Whether platonic or passionate.
