Floral Designer

Position:

This is a part-time or full-time position. The Floral Designer is responsible for artistically arranging flowers and plants to make everyday arrangements, wraps, event work, weddings, sympathy, proms and other decorations as requested. He or she provides superior service by helping customers and completing each order to satisfaction. The Floral Designer designs and merchandises floral arrangements and plant products, takes phone orders, and provides valuable advice and suggestions regarding floral arrangements and their gift choices to our customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create floral arrangements, funeral tributes, wedding and event designs, plant & gift baskets and other items as requested.

  • Plan arrangements according to client requirements, design books or selects appropriate design pattern to complete orders with a high level of detail.

  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance while demonstrating a superior level of hospitality when working with customers and staff.

  • Confer with clients to determine needs, which includes price and type of arrangement as well as the date, time, and place of delivery.

  • Inform customers about the care, maintenance, and handling of various flowers and foliage, indoor plants, and other items.

  • Perform office and retail service duties such as serving customers, answering telephones & selling to walk-in customers as needed.

  • Unpack and process new floral stock as it comes into the shop .

  • Water plants and cuts, condition, and clean flowers and foliage for storage

  • Performs general cleaning duties, including cleaning buckets, vases, shop floor and emptying trash, to ensure the shop is clean and tidy.

  • Lifting products including 1-5 gallon buckets filled with water and flowers

  • Participation in the execution and setup of events and installations as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Certification or one year education in floral design preferred.

  • One year of relevant experience in full-service florist required.

Usual and Customary Expectations:

  • Should expect constant and repetitive use of hands to cut, strip and manipulate flowers, foliage and other materials and requires full extension of arms for grasping, holding, and pulling in all of these positions.

  • Should be able to lift and carry approximately 35 pounds

    Part-time Delivery Driver

    Position:

    This is a part-time position. Applicants must be willing to work non-traditional hours, including weekends. if necessary. Delivery drivers are responsible for loading and securing floral arrangements in vans from the flower shop, delivering item to recipient, confirming delivery times, and obtaining signatures.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Load customer orders into the delivery van

    • Inspect floral arrangements for damages, and report any issues to the florist prior to delivery.

    • Be in good physical shape to load and carry heavy floral arrangements

    • Obtain signatures and times of deliveries for proof of receipt.

    • Have good communication and customer service skills

    • Have a strong attention to detail

    • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

    • Have good organizational skills

    • Delivery drivers must be able to work well without supervision.

    • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance while demonstrating a superior level of hospitality when working with customers and staff.

    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Should be able to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds.

       Fruit Bouquet Designer

      Position:

      This is a part-time position. We are looking for a long-term team member in our Fruit Bouquet department for prep work, design and decorating with opportunities to grow in the position. Fruit bouquet designers cut, arrange and dip fruit in chocolate and toppings to create delicious works of fruit art including chocolate-dipped fruit and strawberries and other requests as needed.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Prepares a variety of fruit arrangements and dipped fruit to Fruit Bouquets / Nancy's Floral standards, which include consistency, composition, design and quality.

      • Produce our entire line of fruit bouquets, chocolate-dipped fruit & strawberries, and any other production items as delegated by a manager.

      • Operates and monitors proper functioning of equipment; following safety procedures for using equipment; sanitize work area during and after use.

      • Keeps work area tidy, equipment cleaned, and prepared for use.

      • Stores, labels and dates finished and unfinished fruit to maintain quality.

      • Ensure exceptional product by following recipes, understanding prep procedures, and maintaining raw materials quality.

      • Inform supervisor when equipment is not working properly and manage when food supplies are getting low.

      • Presents oneself professionally and demonstrates clear communication by using customer service skills with all customers and co-worker interactions.

      • Follows standards for merchandising, stocking, rotating and storing all products.

      • Rotate product in freezer/walk-in using FIFO method

      • Be quick, accurate and organized

      • Make sure our orders are designed and decorated according to our product standards

      • Keep up with pace of store and customer flow

      • Hours of work for the position are approximately 20 hours per week.

      • Knowledge and use of cake decorating equipment, tools, icings, ingredients etc.

      • An experienced baker, with a culinary degree or minimum of one year professional experience in a high-volume bakery preferred.

      • Previous experience working in Guest Service or food service establishment preferred

      Usual and Customary Physical Expectations:

      • Should expect constant and repetitive use of hands to cut, dip and manipulate fruit and other materials and requires full extension of arms for grasping, holding, and pulling in all of these positions.

      • Position requires standing and walking for period of 3-5 hours without a rest break.

      • Occasionally required to climb, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, or crouch.

      • Occasional moderate to heavy (20+ lbs.) lifting and carrying.
